Terence van der Hout, a research analyst with The Gold&Discovery Fund in the Netherlands and editor of Strategy Metals Bulletin, says takeovers are his sweet spot. The fund focuses on investing inworld-class natural resources discoveries in precious metals, base metals and specialty metals, as well as undervalued start-up producers.

“Newstrike Capital Inc. has the Ana Paula gold deposit in Mexico. This is a pretty similar high-grade, long intercept discovery that we like very much. Its resource estimate is due in the first half of this year. That was one of the companies that we jumped in immediately after its discovery in January 2011 because it was very significant.
