1200 Gold
$1200 by the end of the week? Its strong rebound off 1137 tells me we are in a new phase of the gold cycle. The strength it showed in the face of the drop last week tells me we are now well and good in a gold bull market. Hold your gold shares for some spectacular returns we will not see again in our lifetimes!

caliche
Caliche, are your picks in order of the stake you have overall in the portfolio?
I’ve taken positions in GTE and GWY. GTE is an oil exploration company with a lot of upside and GWY is a spec gold stock surrounded by the massive gold belt in Columbia (VEN and GSL). Any insight on these holdings would be greatly appreciated. I’m thinking about adding Newstrike on the downside (below.40 cents hopefully).
Another stock I’m keeping an eye on is GPR.
Of the stocks in your pf, which do you feel has the most potential outside of OLE?
$2,000. by the end of the week? an $800+ move seems pretty agressive…
imo,

We hold CRG..LVN..MMR..VHV..SRI..SKE..TML..TVN ..and a few more..Ones we like change by the minute as we are on the market all day?Do your own homework?GLTA.dsh
Globe says Gleichen raises capital the Canadian way
2009-12-01 07:03 ET – In the News
The Globe and Mail reports in its Tuesday edition that Gleichen Resources dropped $150-million (U.S.) last week to buy a controlling interest in the Morelos gold project in Mexico from Teck Resources. The Globe’s Andrew Willis writes in the Streetwise column that Gleichen made this bid as a shell company, with a handful of proven executives. Mr. Willis notes that mining and energy executives who have shown they know what they are doing get the benefit of the doubt when they come asking for capital. Top brass at Gleichen earned their spurs at senior companies such Inco, FNX Mining and Anglo American. Investors were willing to back this team on their new venture, despite considerable uncertainty around the project, as Gleichen pulled in $200-million with a private placement of special warrants done in October to pay for the Morelos purchase. An unnamed banker says Gleichen could not have raised this much cash this early in development in most other jurisdictions. In Canada, long experience with resources translates into a deep pool of investors willing to back proven managers with promising properties. According to Mr. Willis, these investors often reap tidy profits…………..CHET RAISES OROMIN’S MONEY AS LOW AS POSSIBLE?dsh

Gold trading 1212 now overseas!..
Gold at historic hi’s of $1212.00. And Ole continues to sit at 85 cents.
what are we to expect? Seems like somebody is accumulating shares of MDL. Does anyone have any info as to who is accumulating shares? Hopefully it’s IAG…. and then they will make a public run at us here. I dont know anyone is going to egt Ole to raise in sp. If a Historic Hi price of Gold doesnt lift the Ole boat….. I dont think anything will.
Therefore, we sit at 85 cents when IAG knocks on the door. They’ll base their offer on the current sp,,,, and how many OZ Ole has…. and what they can steal the company for. End of story. So, I have no idea how we go from 85 cents to anything more than 3 bucks.
3 bucks !!! I’d be very happy w/ that in the next 6 months.
I dont think theres any one out there anymore… all gone and sold out of this lovely little deal we all got conned into. But if there is , and you have a better scenario,,,, please clue me in.
Goldfather—–Price of gold is certainly a factor , a big one too………Now we need some news re higher grade gold assay reports and a more complete (and better) pre feasibility study……I believe both may be forthcoming…….We shall see shortly (within a week) on the next assay report and probably even more in Feb…….Updated pre feasibility due Q-2 ’10.. about 4-5 months…..Hopefully the Q-2 report will be SIGNIFICANTLY improved ……Then , the buyout at $5 plus…
Arline…. yes that would help if the company announces some more major gold findings. SOON.
I hyave a feeling they are sitting on them. Hope its near 1 mil. For a total of 4 mil oz at the Project. Then as you say they ahve some more time and money w/ the pp raising about 6-8 mil $$. So, maybe they can show 5 mil oz in the spring. Will that bring in 5 bucks? Hope youre right. If investors can buy this now at 85 cents, and have a chance to get 3-5 bucks,,, you would think that would bring in lots of investors. ? Where are they?
Goldfather—-Another couple of things that I think might help the share price is if Ole mgmt could/would give an update on the INFERRED OUNCES….and better insight just how much of the total gold deposits are really suitable for low cost heap leaching……Also might help if they gave some indication how much might be open pit mining vs underground mining….All these are probably only some of the factors that influence buy out price as well as the share price leading up to the actual buy out…Ole mgmt knows better than I what the factors are that gold producers and investors consider…..(.Probable a number of on’this board do also)……..Don’t understand why mgmt doesn’t give out more info…..Maybe some of you more knowledgeable posters could give us all a short “laundry list” of what you believe are some of the most important factors…..Then we could all push mgmt for that info to be included in their NRs….
The growth of the U.S. debt in the past year is worth examining. It is interesting that its growth has not sounded more alarm bells (see http://www.USDebtClock.org for an alarming demonstration of the financial impact of past government policies in the U.S.). The debt situation in the U.S. can only be considered a starting point. The U.S. Congress and Administration appear to accept that the debt will increase at a rate of one trillion dollars per year, with the assumption that heath care reform and carbon tax legislation may be revenue-neutral to the taxpayer without increasing the deficit……..The US is not alone..We in Canada are probably in the same leaking boat?….dsh
Whenever the commodities index had fallen and then risen above its standard 2 deviation bollinger bands then gold has rallied.
The targets are towards the middle or top of the said bollinger bands.
If this were to happen then it might invalidate the head and shoulder pattern.

I read the link and am not sure if gold has peaked or not. Any comments?
GLD hit an intraday high of 106.15 (current) and the middle bollinger band is at 106.67. It is difficult to say whether the high is in but the stochastics on the 60 min chart look to be topping out and the ADX has gone negative. However with gold these indicators are perfunctory as the indicators can remain oversold or over bought for some time.
Just to reiterate with my trading philosophy I buy weakness and sell strength so I have been a partial seller of gold here and now.
